A Lifetime of Love and Respect

Capturing the love these two share has been one of my greatest honors. Dan and Dorie are my parents so I've been able to see firsthand the strength of their love and commitment. Sessions with couples who have been together and in love for many years is one of my favorite things to do because the the love and respect is palpable and they're not shy to show it.

When I shoot couples I spend a lot of time just prompting them to interact with each other. The best photos come after they forget that I'm there. When my husband and I first started dating he booked us a photoshoot and I was extremely nervous. She directed us toward each other and melted into the background. I still look back on that as one of my favorite dates. That day has informed every shoot I do now.

I like to avoid poses that make people feel awkward and instead prompt them to interact with their loved ones.

For Dan and Dorie (Dad and Mom) we did two locations. When I think of my mom I think flowers and when I think of my dad, I think beach, so that's what we did. We found a beautiful garden full of orchids and then set out to the ocean for sunset.

I cried when I edited these. I think you'll see why.
