Finding another way

When Marika came to me for photos all she knew was the posed, overly retouched, artificial newborn photos we're all used to seeing. I smiled to myself and said "I have some ideas" and I pulled open my Pinterest. As soon as she saw the inspiration photos she was so excited. We went where baby Hadasah was the most comfortable--In mama's arms in her own room and we got started. Rather than setting the baby in a basket with lots of props we set her on the bed and let her mom interact with her exactly how they already interact. Naturally, happily, relaxed. This allows me to capture the moments she wanted to remember most - the way her baby's face lights up when she sees mommy. The way her nose scrunches when Marika kisses her face. We captured the Hadasah that Marika gets to see every day. It was such a beautiful session.
